Partners from nine EU Member States in north, west, east and south Europe worked together to develop transferable strategies for transnational work-related exchanges for socio-economically disadvantaged young adults, who are outside of compulsory education and not in initial vocational training. Partners opened up, tested and managed the work related exchanges.

The European Guide Dog Mobility Services (EDGMS) is a 2010 Leonardo Transfer of Innovation funded project. The project involves six partners, with the UK partner, Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, leading the transfer of a training programme for guide and assistance dog instructors.

The 2009 Leonardo Multilateral funded European Guide to Mentoring project looks at improve peer support across Europe for disadvantaged groups such as those with learning and physical disabilites, mental health issues, young offenders and early school leavers.

Project Name: European Mobility for Deaf People (DIAPASON)

The DIAPASON project provided the opportunity for a group of young unemployed deaf people to improve their professional skills and make them job ready. This project was a partnership of Italian and French organisations and funded through a Leonardo da vinci partnership grant.

The 2007 Grundtvig Multilateral funded European re-Settlement Training and Education for Prisoners (e-step) project looked to research and improve the training of prison officers and prison education specialists to improve the quality of prison education.

Project Name: European stage for deaf students

Fifteen deaf students from Romania overcome communication barriers to undertake training work placements in Italy. The students undertook a five week placement in a social centre in Mileto, Italy and were integrated into the working environment of Western Europe. Students were able to put into practice the theoretical notions that they have gained at school.

Against a background of diverse cultural traditions, the project succeeded in providing women the support they needed in order to improve their chances of full social participation in a changing society. Self-understanding and self-esteem benefited from a focus on cultural heritage and female traditions.

Sixteen Polish care workers were given the opportunity to take part in traineeships and workshops at Swedish welfare organizations to develop their skills, knowledge and personal development.
